Award-winning photographer Matthew Benson presents a lecture and workshop extravaganza. Learn the fundamentals of creating beautiful, compelling photography in the garden, including working with light and composition, developing a personal style, postproduction and image editing techniques, the best basic equipment–from cameras and filters to iPhones and Instagram in a 1+ hour PowerPoint presentation in The Garden Classroom.  Then spend 2+ hours with Matthew in a hands-on workshop in the Crystal Bridge Conservatory.  Where you will receive creative and technical instruction in image and portfolio review and critique, postproduction editing, and photographing and editing for social media (iPhones and editing apps).  A question and answer session, along with book sales + signings will follow.

  • Matthew is a writer, photographer, author and organic farmer whose work focuses on issues of food, sustainability, and organics. He is the owner of Stonegate Farm in New York’s Hudson River Valley, where he cultivates organic vegetables, historic fruit, raw honey, and medicinal flowers and herbs. His farm has been featured in The New York Times, Better Homes & Gardens, Organic Gardening, and the television show This Old House, among others.
