Sweets, Eats, and Beats

We love celebrating love at the Gardens! Valentines day will be extra special this year with champagne, food, live music, and dancing in our Park House Event Center with a striking panoramic view of the grounds and a nighttime glow of the Crystal Bridge. Ticket price includes one glass of champagne, light appetizers from Kam’s Kookery, and a raffle ticket for our staycation basket. Volunteers will help with set up, passing out champagne and raffle tickets and general event assistance.
Lunar New Year
Friday, Feb. 16
3:30 – 6pm & 5:45 – 8:30pm

We are partnering with our friends from Super Cao Ngyuen in the OKC Asian District to celebrate the Lunar New Year! Join us for music, face painting and fun for the entire family. The Gardens will have lion dancers, festive decor, crafts for kids, cultural presentations, calligraphers to write your name in Chinese, food vendors/Boba Tea in the Park House Event Center and t-shirts for sale. Volunteers will assist with set up, crafts, games, food tastings, and tear down.
OK Seed Walkups
Every Saturday in March
9:30am – 3:30pm
5 volunteers needed each day
Seeds are amazing. They are the foundation of all plant life and we depend on them for our very existence. Guests will visit the Gardens during this month-long exhibit to learn all the amazing things seeds do to survive and do for us. Volunteers will walk guests through selecting and potting up seeds from the “Seed Cafeteria”. They will also share fun seed facts and info about starting seeds. All information will be provided.
Some basic horticulture knowledge or willingness to learn will be beneficial for this volunteer opportunity.
Go Green, St. Patrick’s Day!
Saturday, March 17
11:30am – 4:30pm

May the luck of the Irish be with you as we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! We will have performances by the Hill Irish Step School, Ravens 3, Juggle Whatever, and the Oklahoma Scottish Pipes & Drum. Guests can enjoy food trucks, vendors, an Irish Step performance, and fun fiddling tunes. Each paid participants wristband includes access to make a fruit loop rainbow necklace, plant a clover seed, play with our Imagination Playground sponsored by Express Employment Professionals and hunt for treasures in our shamrock sensory bins on the Sheridan Lawn. All guests can learn about Irish heritage and find out where our silly leprechaun hid the Gardens pot of gold! Volunteers will assist with setup, crafts, games, and more. Please wear green!
Sprouting Chef’s Spring Break Cooking Camp
Monday, March 19 – Thursday, March 22
3 volunteers per shift
In this fun, hands-on cooking camp, young chefs will practice essential kitchen skills while creating delicious dishes using fresh ingredients. We’ll start off each day by learning the basics of the day’s theme then jump right in and cookin’ to end with a tasty lunch freshly made by the class. Volunteers will be another helpful hand helping and showing the kids basic kitchen skills (chopping, measuring, using hot plate, other equipment, etc.). Volunteers don’t need to be kitchen experts, just have basic knowledge and confidence with basic cooking skills.
Sensory Sensitive Easter
Thursday, March 29
5:30 – 8:30pm
An evening for families with children with special needs. This is not an Easter Egg Hunt, but a fun-filled evening for families and typically developing siblings. Volunteers will help with setup, running booths, handing out eggs, crafts and more!
Saturday, March 31
11:15am-6pm (2 shifts)
25 volunteers per shift
The Easter Eggstravaganza includes two dog Easter Egg Hunts (12:30-1:30), one children’s Egg Hunt (2:30 p.m.), and festive Easter booths and games (starting at 3 p.m.). This will be a fun-filled afternoon for the entire family including face painting, music, food trucks and tulips for sale. Volunteers will assist with set up, distributing eggs for Easter Egg hunts, working craft/game booths, assisting photographer/Easter Bunny photo area.
