The Myriad Botanical Gardens would love to have you volunteer for our special events throughout the year. With a huge variety of events including Children’s Garden Festival, Pumpkinville, Bug Out!, Full Moon Bike Ride, Merry and Bright, Adventure Week, Gardening School and others, we have something for everyone. Volunteers interact with adults and children in a number of ways including helping with crafts, greeting guests, reading to children and more. Groups of 5 or more should contact to schedule their volunteer opportunity.

Winter Events

Holiday Decoration Week

November 13-18
If you love the winter holiday’s and hanging Christmas lights, this opportunity is for you! Volunteers will assist our facilities staff with preparing for our holiday festivities. Volunteers who wish to stay and help the whole day should sign up for both shifts that day and come prepared with a sack lunch.

Bulb Planting in the Gardens

Volunteers are needed to help our horticulture staff with winter bulb planting! This is a great activity for groups who are willing to work with their hands on the grounds. Individuals and groups of 5 or less may sign up at the link. Polar Express PJ Party

Friday, December 1
Do you BELIEVE? Join us for an evening of holiday festivities in the Park House Event Center. Guests will be able to ice skate at the Devon Ice Rink, drink hot cocoa and create Polar Express crafts! Santa will also make an appearance at some point in the evening and read The Polar Express to children in attendance. Each child will receive a bell from Santa’s Sleigh. Wear your PJs to get in the spirit. Volunteers will assist with check-in, crafts, snacks and other fun activities.

Merry and Bright

The beauty of the Crystal Bridge takes on a whole new glow at night. Thanks to our friends at OGE Energy Corp., we are pleased to offer FREE admission on Sunday evenings in December to the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory. We need volunteers who would like to assist with welcoming and greeting guests during this event. Come enjoy charming holiday light displays and beautiful plant exhibits designed especially for the holiday season. It will be cold outside, but you will think it’s Christmas in July in the balmy warmth of the tropics.

Saturday’s With Santa

Saturday, December 2, 9, and 16
Devon’s Saturday’s with Santa will expand into the Gardens again this year; families can enjoy food trucks, FREE admission to the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory and entertainment inside the Crystal Bridge. Our herbal Christmas display with floral arrangements and festive displays will adorn the Bridge, while the outdoor grounds will be decked with boughs of holly and greenery, making a beautiful winter backdrop for family photos. While you’re here, be sure to visit the Devon Ice Rink and our other holiday attractions. Volunteers will help with crafts, story time, games and more.

Sensory Santa Evening

Friday, December 15
This event provides a more controlled and welcoming environment for a Santa Photo Experience for children with special needs. Volunteers will assist with check in, crafts, story time and other fun activities.

Winter Break Drop-Ins

Monday, December 18 – Friday, December 22
Help kids discover the beauty and fun nature has to offer even during the winter. Volunteers will assist with story time every 30 minutes, holiday ornament making or gift making and interactive education.
