School Groups

When should I submit a request to book a tour or school program?

  • We recommend calling as far in advance as possible, as our calendar fills up quickly, and we require at least 2 weeks’ notice before the date you would like to book. We cannot guarantee there will be an opening. Our hours are 9am-5pm. To book a visit, fill out our Group Visit Request Form. Due to the heavy request volume, please allow up to 3 business days for a response. For additional questions, contact Lily Christman at lchristman@myriadgardens.org.

Where can our group eat lunch?

  • Groups are often directed to our pavilion space near the Children’s Garden for lunch because of its convenience, but food and drink are allowed anywhere on our Outdoor Grounds. Pick a shady spot and enjoy your meal!
Please note: Food and drink are NOT allowed in the Crystal Bridge Conservatory.

What is the cost of a tour or school program?

  • Admission for groups of 10 or more:
    • ages 13 and up, $6.00 (plus tax) per person
    • ages 4-12, $4.00 (plus tax) per person
    • ages 3 and under are FREE
    • For every 10 kids you bring, 2 adults are FREE
  • Guided tours and scavenger hunts cost an additional fee of $1.00 (plus tax)
  • School programs cost an additional fee of $2.50 (plus tax)
  • Self-guided tours have no additional cost

How long are your tours or school programs?

  • Guided tours run 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  • School programs run, on average, 2 hours and are offered from 10am to Noon, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. This time may be adjusted depending on your group size.
  • Self-guided tours are completely up to your group and their desired pace but you may want to carve out at least 30 minutes.

Where do we park?

  • A parking map and instructions are included in a confirmation email you will receive after booking your visit.

How many students can you accommodate?

  • For school programs– REAP and Plants We Eat- we can accommodate a maximum of 90 students.
  • For tour groups we can accommodate a maximum of 60 students.
  • For guided scavenger hunts we can accommodate up to 40 students at one time.

Groups that exceed our maximums are welcome to come over two days.

Which program is right for my group?

  • Our school programs, REAP and Plants We Eat, are longer, at two hours, and offer a more structured educational experience. These programs are appropriate for grades Kindergarten to 6th.
  • A guided tour last 30 minutes to 1 hour and provides a great overview of some of the plants in the rainforest and desert and the habitat each offers. A guided tour is adaptable to nearly all ages, from 3rd grade to 12th.
  • A guided scavenger hunt is a great alternative for younger students who might not get as much out of a full guided tour. It lasts 30 to 45 minutes and is appropriate for students in grades pre-K to 3rd.
  • Self-guided tours are appropriate for all ages and are a great option if your time is limited (plan on at least 30 minutes).

Which program is right for my group?

  • A guided tour is great for groups wanting to visit the tropics and learn more about the plants than you would on your own. Guided tours take 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  • A self-guided tour comes with a great brochure that leads you around to various plants. It is a great option for groups who are limited on time but still want to experience the tropics. Plan on at least 30 minutes to complete a self-guided tour.
