Children’s Garden Festival inspired by A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh

Note: Children’s Garden and THUNDER FOUNTAIN will be closed to the public Wednesday, June 6 and will re-open for admission Friday, June 8 to Sunday, June 17. The Children’s Garden and THUNDER FOUNTAIN will reopen FREE to the public on Wednesday, June 20.

Join us daily in the Hundred Acre Wood for an interactive reading of Winnie the Pooh stories and more. Audiences will have the chance to participate in the stories.

Observation Hives with the Central Oklahoma Bee Keepers Association

The Central Oklahoma Bee Keepers Association will be onsite selling local honey and answering questions about their observation hives.

Rabbits Flower Garden Pop Ins with Children’s Garden Manager Abby Curry

Join us to help Rabbit plant his flower pots! Children will be able to decorate a pot and plant it with a flower of their own to take home.

Sensory Winnie the Pooh Night

Kids with special needs and their families are invited to a special sensory-sensitive Winnie the Pooh event. The whole family is welcome to enjoy this welcoming environment and experience the Children’s Garden Festival with smaller crowds and less noise. Come for the fun, festive booths, crafts and activities for all. Whole Foods Market will provide a light snack for registered participants. Food truck vendor Mr. Yeti’s Snowballs will be onsite selling mouth-watering icy refreshments.

An event for families with children with special needs, join us inside the Children’s Garden for Winnie the Pooh. This event provides a more controlled and welcoming environment to experience our Children’s Garden Festival. No loud music and smaller crowds. Typically developing siblings are welcome! We will have festive booths crafts and activities for everyone to enjoy. A light snack will be provided for registered participants thanks to Whole Foods Market.

Mr. Yeti’s Snowballs food truck will be onsite for purchases.

Children’s Honey Bee Class with Lori Coats

Join Lori Coats, owner of My Raggedy Herbs, as she teaches children the process of how honeybees make honey. Lori and her husband raised their four children on a honey farm in western Oklahoma. She will have your kids buzzing with excitement as they learn a kid-friendly version of how these amazing insects make nature’s perfect food! Each child will create their own honeycomb picture and leave with a bee stamp on their hand.

Mommy and Me Monday’s and Tiny Tot Tuesdays

Join us for a morning of fun with the little ones. Guests can enjoy story and music on the Children’s Garden Porch. This will be a time geared toward ages 0 to 5 with no outside school groups or daycare booked visits during these hours.

Homeschool Thursday

Many people don’t know the important role honeybees play in the pollination process of strawberry plants. Pati Colston, owner of Agape House Berry Farm will share with children the special part of nature honeybees hold as pollinators. Kids will get to make their own “honeybee” craft and “pollinate” strawberry plants in this fun and educational Berry Class.

Come and learn about the important roll honeybees have in the pollination process of strawberry plants from Pati Colston, owner of Agape House Berry Farm. Pati and her husband raise 16,000 strawberry plants and are eager to share with children the importance of these special pollinators. Kids will have the opportunity to make their own balloon “honeybee” during craft time and “pollinate” strawberry plants.

Book Sale with the Friends of the Metropolitan Library System

The Friends of the Library will be onsite from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. selling gardening and children’s books at the Myriad Gardens. The Friends of the Metropolitan Library System was formed in 1978 and is recognized as a charitable 501 (c) 3 organization. Their mission is to raise funds to support the Metropolitan Library System’s Mission to ‘grow smarter communities, one person at a time.’

Come to Winnie the Pooh after hours to explore the Children’s Garden as the sunsets in the background. There will be games, activities and treats. All guests are encouraged to dress as their favorite character to get in the spirit. Throughout the evening will be playing The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh short stories on the Children’s Garden porch for everyone to enjoy.
