Join us for our sixth annual Pumpkinville, in the Children’s Garden! Beginning October 6, bring your friends and family to one of the most treasured fall treats in Oklahoma City. Enjoy crafts, activities and imaginative displays from our Prairie Pumpkin Town that will get you in the spirit of the season. Each weekend families can enjoy activities and entertainment.

Cider Press Demonstration and Tasting

  • Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, 1 – 1:30pm
  • Under the Thunder Fountain in Pumpkinville
  • $1 per cup of cider
  • All ages welcome

Learn how cider is made as we try out our old-fashioned cider press each weekend during Pumpkinville. Join in on the cider making and enjoy a taste of this delicious juice at the end.

Story Time Around the Fire

  • Daily during Pumpkinville, 11am
  • Camp Fire Grounds in the Children’s Garden
  • FREE with admission to Pumpkinville
  • Best for ages 4-9

Curl up around the “camp fire” to hear spooky, seasonal and even goofy stories every morning during Pumpkinville.  Stories include Pumpkin Time by Erzsi Deak, I am a Witch’s Cat by Harriet Muncaster and Ollie’s Halloween by Olivier Dunrea. 

Yoga Tuesdays

  • Tuesdays, 5:45pm

  • Late arrivals not accepted after 5:50 p.m.
  • Outdoors or in the Terrace Room depending on weather

This is a great, all-levels class led by Lisa Woodward from This Land Yoga. Class participants should bring a yoga mat and water. Class participants will meet in the south lobby for check-in each week. Drop in for a session or two or enjoy the entire series!

Reading Wednesdays

Bring your youngster for story time each Wednesday at 10am. Books are nature-themed and selected based on the season. Bird House Wood Working Class with Moore/Norman Technology

Join students from Moore/Norman Technology as they guide children through the processes of building a bird house that can be placed on your window at home! Children will get to watch the birds nesting and visit their bird house from inside their home. This is best for ages 9 and up only. There are a limited number of spaces available so please register by Monday, October 16.

Fall is upon us, it’s time to sit by the fire and stay warm during those crisp Autumn days. Need a new indoor activity?  How about Finger Knitting? Anna Cook will demonstrate the proper way to finger knit and teach participants the ins and outs of this fun activity. Once you’ve got the hang of it, Anna will present several templates for guests to choose from. Make a snake, headband or bracelet to take home. There are a limited number of spaces available so please register by Thursday, October 19.

Join us to learn all about everyone’s favorite fall fruit – the apple.  We’ll learn about the different parts of an apple and how it grows.  Then we’ll read a couple books, do a tasting – including homemade applesauce – and end by playing with our food and creating an apple inspired craft.  Kiddos will head home with easy recipes to make apple treats at home.

Mushrooms are not only tasty and good for you, they’re easy to grow too. Sandra and Doug Williams will discuss the major types of mushrooms and two easy varieties to grow – Shiitake and Oyster. They’ll teach you the steps of starting your own colony and will delve into the many benefits of mushrooms to people, animals and the environment. A tasting will be enjoyed.

Help us wind down the fall season by joining us for our Spooky Pooch Parade on the Great Lawn. Enjoy spooky music, OKC Disc Dogs performance, booths, puppicinos donated by Starbucks and our parade of pooches. Special guest judges will present prizes to the best and most creatively dressed pooches! You don’t have to register a dog to take part in the fun or event have a dog. Bring the family and be an observer and visit Pumpkinville. Pitchfork in the Park is offering a $1 discount if you bring your dog in costume over to Pitchfork during the event!

Golden Hour Photography Sessions in Pumpkiville

Calling all photographers! We know that you love taking portraits inside Pumpkinville. Come shoot mini sessions and bring your clients to the Children’s Garden after hours to get your favorite shots with the best lighting. The $50 fee will allow you to bring clients in and out of the Children’s Garden throughout the golden hour. Contact Rebekah Wade with questions at rwade@myriadgardens.org or 405-445-7082. Bulb Planting Talk and Interactive Demonstration

If you want bulbs for the spring, fall is the time to plant them and our horticulture staff will be doing just that starting in October. Join them as they plant bulbs such as tulips, hyacinths and daffodils. They will discuss different types of bulbs, planting techniques and spring maintenance tips for your emerged bulbs. Participants will have the chance to plant a bulb or two in the Gardens as well – then you can come back in the spring to see it growing.
