Adults 

Prairie Bloom Body Care DIY Body Oil and Body Scrub

Are you a fan of bubble baths and sweet smelling oils? We might have just the class for you. Jade Arellano with Prairie Bloom Body Care will guide participants in making their own infused body oil and body scrub to take home. Guests of this class will get to choose from a variety of herbs to use in their infusions and scrubs. Jade will also give a short presentation on why organic body products are important in today’s day and age!

Lifestyle Photography Class with Jessie Huff Photography

Jessie Huff is a lifestyle wedding and portrait photographer with six years of experience. This course will teach participants how to take better photos technically and creatively using a DSLR camera. Dust that baby off and learn how to use your camera in manual mode while learning all about exposure-aperture, ISO, shutter speed, lenses, composition, directing your subjects and how to find great lighting. During this two hour course, Jessie will teach you to direct your subjects in a way to get genuine emotions and how to get the most out of your camera/ lens. She’ll even guide you through ways to take better photos with your cell phone! Participants will leave with lots of great information, a review of what was taught in the course and a new inspiration to document your life, whether that is your children or your pet! Autumn Wreath Making Class

Are you in search of a great autumn wreath for your front door, but can’t find anything you truly love? We have the solution to your problem—come create your own with Kenton Peters. This is a class for beginners. Our instructor is skilled with making beautiful wreaths out of willow and natural elements. Each participant will create a wreath to their own liking to take home with them. There are a limited number of spaces available so please register by Friday, October 13.

All about Mushrooms

Mushrooms are not only tasty and good for you, they’re easy to grow too. Sandra and Doug Williams will discuss the major types of mushrooms and two easy varieties to grow – Shiitake and Oyster. They’ll teach you the steps of starting your own colony and will delve into the many benefits of mushrooms to people, animals and the environment. A tasting will be enjoyed.

Bulb Planting Talk and Interactive Demonstration

If you want bulbs for the spring, fall is the time to plant them and our horticulture staff will be doing just that starting in October. Join them as they plant bulbs such as tulips, hyacinths and daffodils. They will discuss different types of bulbs, planting techniques and spring maintenance tips for your emerged bulbs. Participants will have the chance to plant a bulb or two in the Gardens as well – then you can come back in the spring to see it growing.

Join us to expand your Oklahoma plant knowledge and get great ideas for your yard. Each month changes as the plants grow through the seasons; in October and December we’ll discuss plants for color and in November we’ll highlight plants for water conservation. Bulb Planting Design: Demonstration and Talk

If you want bulbs for the spring, fall is the time to plant them and to lay out your design. Join us as we share beautiful inspiration photos, discuss design tips and then head outside to demonstrate how to implement the design as you plant it. Bulb care tips will be discussed as well.

Rumble Pumpkin Carving with David Holland

Join David Holland as he guides participants through carving your own Rumble Pumpkin. Thunder season is upon us, so this pumpkin will be a great addition to your front porch. Open to beginners, intermediate and advanced pumpkin carvers. Instructor, David Holland, will adapt patterns based on the participants pumpkin carving skills. There a limited number of spaces available so please register by Friday, October 13.

Bird House Wood Working Class with Moore/Norman Technology

Join students from Moore/Norman Technology as they guide children through the processes of building a bird house that can be placed on your window at home! Children will get to watch the birds nesting and visit their bird house from inside their home. This is best for ages 9 and up only. There are a limited number of spaces available so please register by Monday, October 16.

 

Finger Knitting

Fall is upon us, it’s time to sit by the fire and stay warm during those crisp Autumn days. Need a new indoor activity?  How about Finger Knitting? Anna Cook will demonstrate the proper way to finger knit and teach participants the ins and outs of this fun activity. Once you’ve got the hang of it, Anna will present several templates for guests to choose from. Make a snake, headband or bracelet to take home. There are a limited number of spaces available so please register by Thursday, October 19.

All About Apples: Tasting and Craft

Join us to learn all about everyone’s favorite fall fruit – the apple.  We’ll learn about the different parts of an apple and how it grows.  Then we’ll read a couple books, do a tasting – including homemade applesauce – and end by playing with our food and creating an apple inspired craft.  Kiddos will head home with easy recipes to make apple treats at home.
