The 2017 holiday season is approaching. Old favorites return: The Devon Ice Rink, Saturdays with Santa, Merry & Bright, Learn to Curl, etc. We’ve got great classes for families – Gingerbread House, wreath making and more. 

Devon Ice Rink

Each holiday season, the Gardens transforms its seasonal plaza into the Devon Ice Rink, making for a winter wonderland set in a bustling downtown setting. At Devon Ice Rink, you can skate across 5,500 square feet of real ice, and indulge in seasonal food and beverage offerings.

Greens Market

Purchase beautiful greens and wreaths for your mantel, table, doors and more. Noble fir, princess pine, juniper and a variety of other greens will be available for purchase at a great price and we’ll be on site to answer questions about preserving your greens through the holidays.

The beauty of the Crystal Bridge takes on a whole new glow at night. Thanks to our friends at OGE Energy Corp., we are pleased to offer FREE admission on Sunday evenings in December to the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory. Come enjoy charming holiday light displays and beautiful plant exhibits designed especially for the holiday season. It will be cold outside, but you will think it’s Christmas in July in the balmy warmth of the tropics.

Do you BELIEVE? Join us for an evening of holiday festivities in the Park House Event Center. Guests will be able to ice skate at the Devon Ice Rink, drink hot cocoa and create Polar Express crafts! Our special guests, Santa, will also make an appearance at some point in the evening and read The Polar Express to children in attendance. Each child will receive a bell from Santa’s Sleigh. Wear your PJs to get in the spirit. Advance registration is required by Thursday, November 30 at noon.

Festive Fridays: Santa Paws presented by Midtown Vets

Are you in need of a Christmas card photo with your fur baby this year? Well, the Gardens have just the ticket for you! Join us for photos with Santa, mingle with other dogs or make a paw print stocking for your mantle. Advance registration is required by Thursday, December 5 at noon. This program may sell out!

Festive Fridays: Sensory Santa Evening

An event for families with children with special needs, join us inside the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory for an evening with Santa. This event provides a more controlled and welcoming environment for a Santa Photo Experience. We will have festive booths with activities for the children. Santa will be in a designated spot for photos throughout the evening. No loud music. A light snack will be provided for registered participants. Saturdays with Santa

Devon’s Saturday’s with Santa will expand into the Gardens again this year; families can enjoy food trucks, FREE admission to the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory and entertainment inside the Crystal Bridge. Our herbal Christmas display with floral arrangements and festive displays will adorn the Bridge, while the outdoor grounds will be decked with boughs of holly and greenery, making a beautiful winter backdrop for your family photos. While you’re here, be sure to visit the Devon Ice Rink and our other holiday attractions.

The winter Olympics are upon us! Here’s one Olympic sport you can learn to perfect with the Oklahoma Curling Club. Club members will walk you through the basic rules and etiquette of curling, explain the how’s and why’s of delivering and sweeping a stone and get you on the ice enjoying the sport of curling with friends or family! Dress warm, wear rubber soled shoes and prepare for a fun morning on the ice! All other equipment will be provided by the Oklahoma Curling Club.

Back by popular demand with two offerings this year. Choose from a fantastic, modern succulent wreath or the classic, traditional evergreen wreath in this fun, hands on holiday workshop. Participants will receive group and one-on-one instruction as we walk you through creating your own beautiful 18-22” wreath to adorn your home. Succulent wreaths are best for indoors, while evergreens are best for the outdoors, why not sign up for both classes and make each one? New this year for evergreen wreaths, we’ll have fresh herbs on hand to add a lovely holiday scent.

Painting in the Gardens with Wine & Palette “Polar Express”

All aboard! Join Wine and Palette for Painting in the Gardens to create a winter wonderland favorite. Paint the “Polar Express” on a 11×14 canvas.

Gingerbread House Workshop

‘Tis the season to decorate a beautiful gingerbread house. We’ll learn about the flavorful ginger root – where it comes from, how it grows – and then go on a hunt in our conservatory to find it. We’ll finish by decorating our fragrant masterpieces. All supplies provided including gingerbread structure, frosting, candies for decorating and a little help if needed.

Herbal Holiday Gifts

Join Herbalist, Monica Arndt, to create a kitchen gift basket for the holidays. Monica will provide you with recipes and then guide you through the steps of creating your own Herbs De Provence mix, a Rose Petal Jam and an 8” living Rosemary wreath. She’ll also discuss the benefits of each of these herbs and will provide great ideas for adding even more to your basket. You may even need to make two baskets, one for a friend and one for you!

Painting in the Gardens with Wine and Palette “DIY Pet Portraits”

We want your pet photos! Join Wine and Palette for Painting in the Gardens “DIY Pet Portraits” send in a photo from our Santa Paws event or just a fun loving photo of your pet and recreate the photo on a 16×20 canvas. Participants will need to email their photo into Wine and Palette a week before the event for the artists to properly prepare for the course.

Winter Break Drop-ins

Kids will discover the beauty and fun nature has to offer even during the winter. Join us each day with story time every 30 minutes, holiday ornament or gift making and interactive education. Every day has a different theme: Monday- Plant Hibernation; Tuesday- Animal Hibernation; Wednesday- All About Ice; Thursday- Winter Solstice Day and Friday- Homemade Holiday Decorations.
