February in the Gardens

In February the Gardens will team with the American Heart Association to create a heart made of people wearing red on the Great Lawn; Wine and Palette returns for another Painting in the Gardens; we have hot chocolate classes for kids and adults; a fairy fun tea party is set, costumes recommended. We’ll host our second Senior Day Out. Our big event of February will be Valentine’s Night Out in the Crystal Bridge on the Saturday before Valentine’s. Here’s the list:

Bringing Gardens to Life

Stick around after Reading Wednesdays for this fun indoor activity that brings gardens to life, even when it’s cold outside! We will make a nature-based, take-home craft that relates to the book, such as bird seed ornaments or handprint trees. For groups of 10 or more call Lily Christman at (405) 445-5162.

Senior Day Out at the Gardens: All About Lavender

  • Thursday, February 23, 10am – 1pm

Join us at the Gardens for a fun day away from the house and the cold weather. We will offer guided tours of the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory, and a presentation on lavender from Children’s Garden Manager, Abby Curry. This month’s topic is All About Lavender. Widely known for its scent and beauty in the garden, it’s not only a great draw for pollinators, but can also be used for a variety of home and cooking purposes. Each participant will make a lavender sachet to take home. Wrap up the day with some light refreshments and prizes—come ready to win!

Join us to expand your Oklahoma plant knowledge and get great ideas for your yard. Each month changes as the plants grow through the seasons; in January and March we’ll discuss plants for water conservation and in February we’ll highlight plants for color. Can’t make it for the guided tour? Pick up a self-guided handout in our South Lobby.

Yoga in the Gardens

  • Tuesdays, February 5:45pm
  • No late arrivals after 5:50pm
  • Meet in the South Lobby for check-in
  • Members FREE, Nonmembers $10
  • Must be at least 11 years-old to participate

This is a great all-levels class led by Lisa Woodard. Class participants should bring a yoga mat and water. Classes will meet in the south lobby for check-in each week. Drop in for a session or two or enjoy the entire series!

Reading Wednesdays

  • Every Wednesday, 10 – 11am
  • Crystal Bridge South Lobby
  • FREE
  • Best for ages 2-5

Bring your youngster for story time each Wednesday at 10am. Books are nature-themed and selected based on the season. Children will also enjoy creating a small craft after the story.  For groups of 10 or more please call Kodi Clifford at 405-835-6789.

Family Yoga in the Gardens

Want to get keep your kids and yourself active during the winter months? Come to the Gardens each week for a fun family yoga course. Class participants should bring a yoga mat and water. This isn’t just for kids; this is for the ENTIRE family. Come, exercise and unwind from the day together. Classes will meet in the south lobby for check-in each week.
