The Board of Directors of the Myriad Gardens Foundation is proud to announce Linda Horn as the 2014 recipient of the James R. Tolbert III Crystal Orchid Award. This award is an annual tribute to those individuals who significantly impact the beauty and success of not only the Myriad Botanical Gardens but all of Oklahoma City.
This celebration will be held on Thursday, October 16. Registration begins at 11:30. The program will be on the Water Stage at noon followed by a delicious lunch provided by Nonna’s Euro-American Ristorante.
Linda is the Marketing and Community Relations Director for Total Environment, Inc., an Oklahoma City based Design – Build – Maintain firm. She is responsible for ensuring excellence in customer service, quality control and design. She has been an expert guest speaker on many TV and radio programs and a speaker for various organizations over the years. She was also a guest instructor for the famous New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx. While in college, Linda worked for Rosedale Nurseries, one of the first nurseries in the country that maintained some of the old blue-blood estates such as Roosevelt and Cabot Lodge as well as many other high-profile residences and commercial properties in Westchester County. After moving to Oklahoma City, she worked for TLC Garden Center. She started News 9’s “Let’s Talk Gardening” television program for TLC, producing and hosting 20 shows per season for seven years until she left to work for Total Environment in 2003.
She generously lends her time and talent to many beautification projects throughout the City. Maureen Heffernan, Executive Director of the Foundation, says, “Linda has partnered with us in so many ways to help create and maintain our beautiful Myriad Gardens. She assisted with the re-planting of the Meinders Garden, the Great Lawn and various beds throughout the Gardens, improving the circle drive area, and is currently working with us on our holiday lighting. Her vision, passion, knowledge and gift of her personal time have been invaluable.”
